About
Codex Andina is a Material & Textile Studio working through matter, territory, and time. Founded in Peru, it develops projects that bring together research, design, technical knowledge, and sustainability.
The studio operates as a space for research and development, where materials, textile structures, and processes are explored as languages of contemporary design. Its practice encompasses material research, textile development, collection concepts, and product development.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, Codex Andina investigates material transformation, material cycles, traceability, and the environmental crisis, connecting experimentation and design with new possibilities for textiles and products.
Sustainability
At Codex Andina, sustainability is understood as a cross-cutting principle of research and design. The studio works through conscious material selection, traceability, the use of deadstock, circularity, durability, and the exploration of lower-impact processes.
Rather than being treated as a separate category, sustainability informs every decision, from material research to the development of textiles, objects, and products.

Codex Andina Consulting
Codex Andina Consulting provides specialized consulting in product development, collections, textiles and materials, knitwear, and sustainability for brands and companies in the textile and fashion sectors across Peru and Latin America.
Each project brings together design, technical knowledge, and strategy to support the conceptualization, development, and improvement of products, collections, and processes.
Codex Archive
Codex Archive brings together visual records, materials, and research processes connected to matter, territory, and time.
Landscapes, materials, fibers, textile structures, samples, surfaces, and processes form an archive of observation and research that documents references, transformations, and relationships that inform the practice of Codex Andina.
Codex Editions
Codex Editions brings together capsule collections and limited editions developed through the studio’s material and textile research.
The pieces explore relationships between matter, structure, function, and transformation, and may take the form of textiles, ceramics, objects, and decorative pieces.
Each edition translates Codex Andina’s research and design processes into small collections and limited series.

Territory, Matter & Time
Codex Andina’s research is structured around three axes: territory, matter, and time.
Territory encompasses the origin of materials, production systems, knowledge, and the environmental conditions involved in their transformation.
Matter is investigated through its properties, behavior, and possibilities for transformation. The studio works with fibers, textiles, and natural, recovered, or transformed materials, considering their characteristics and applications.
Time introduces cycles, durability, wear, and transformation as dimensions of both materials and the systems that produce them.
Through these axes, the studio investigates the relationships between matter, design, sustainability, and the environmental crisis, exploring new possibilities for the development of textiles, objects, and products.

Origins of the Practice
The practice originated in Peru from a conscious approach aimed at building a more responsible relationship with the environment and future generations.
Codex Andina was founded by Sandra Cáceres Simons, artist, researcher, and textile theorist, and an honorary member of the International Alpaca Association. After establishing her design studio in 2015 and following more than a decade of continuous professional practice, she founded Codex Andina in 2025 as a natural evolution of her trajectory.
Her interdisciplinary work brings together philosophy, art, and design, contributing conceptual depth and sensitivity to design alongside strong technical expertise in knitwear, textile structures, materials, and production processes. With more than twenty years of experience in the textile industry, she has developed an approach that connects research, design, technical knowledge, and product development.
Today, Codex Andina operates as a Material & Textile Studio, where each collaboration expands its field of research and development in dialogue with contemporary and global contexts.
